Ship: kuuvory (kuko x ivory)

Status: some kind of situationship

Since: early 2020 although i don't have an exact date...

Name: Kuko

Age: 19

Occupation: Monk

Kuko is the heir to Kuugen temple, leader of Bad Ass Temple and the local problem causer/solver of the streets of Nagoya (depending on the day).

Name: Ivory

Age: 20*

Occupation: Ghost

Ivory is a shy ghost haunting a stigmatised property; an apartment in Nagoya.
*20 at the time of death. More on that later.

History

Ivory's spirit had been dormant for several years after their death. It was only after the (previously abandoned) property they laid rest in was renovated and reopened that they "awakened" and started making trouble.
Up until that point, Ivory had been practically comatose. They have no knowledge of what happened in the years between death and undeath; as such, they were confused and unruly in the first few months after awakening and continuously chased out any tenants who attempted to rent their apartment.
Eventually Kuko caught wind of this through Hitoya, who'd been tasked with the case of a client claiming they'd been scammed by renting a haunted property. Intrigued by the story, he ventured out to investigate himself.
Fortunately, the monk managed to coerce Ivory out of their distressed state. Not so fortunately, they weren't able to remember the details surrounding their death and by extension the reason they hadn't passed on yet. Kuko, being too stubborn to leave it as is, decided for the both of them that he was going to help figure it out so that they could hurry up and reincarnate.

Some notes:

  • I haven't really worked out the specifics of Ivory's living situation but my idea is that either they just keep on scaring away tenants, or Ivory disguises themself as a human and applies to live there themself. How does a ghost earn rent money? Absolutely no clue.
  • My yume lore is a bit inspired by Dead Gorgeous because I liked it as a kid and I can't help but think of it. Lmao

Re: Spirit

I'm generally pretty loosey goosey with ghost "rules" because Ivory is still my self insert and I Will throw them into whatever situation I want to, but I perceive them something like this:

  • Ivory isn't physically bound to the apartment, but their influence on the living realm decreases the further away they are from it. This includes things like being able to physically interact with objects and people, the threshold of how spiritually sensitive someone needs to be to see them, and other spiritual phenomena like a chill in the air (so on so forth).
  • In terms of being seen, I think Ivory can choose to make themself known if they want to (and if its within their capabilities where they currently stand). Ivory usually decides to go unseen-- If they are visible, they'll probably be under a sheet. Hence, sheet ghost... It's worth noting that Kuko is exceptionally spiritually sensitive and can see them even when they try to hide.
  • I haven't really decided on Ivory's cause of death, but I like to think they died early 2000s purely because its funny to me if they were a big fan of certain egl and j-punk brands and were gutted to find out most of them have gone bankrupt or completely changed directions since they were living.
  • When I do decide on their cause of death I'd like to make a vengeful spirit AU and make a more ghastly design for Ivory but for now I'm still plotting T__T

kiss kiss fall in love

i really like slow burns so i picture kuuvory as one. i think it's kind of natural considering how kuko just is as a person... he values loyalty above all else, and loves people deeply. kuko is so dedicated to *all* of the people he cares about and expects that from them in return so i think it would take quite a long time for the two of them to come to terms with the idea that their relationship might be beginning to border on something inherently romantic. it would be the kind of thing where everything seems so normal until it escalates all at once, maybe through a kiss or some other kind of physical affection that goes too far to be considered platonic but feels right nonetheless.
i guess that's why i consider them a situationship or vaguely partners... phrases like "one and only" just don't feel right to describe them because they both regard their chosen people so highly? i don't know how to put it into words.... Orz
